No more skinny
We
all know American is obsessed with skinny but it’s sad to say America’s
obesity rate is sky rocketing. The truth is many of us aren’t loosing weight
but keep gaining. And instead of taking full responsible we are living in
denial and blaming others. And on top of that fashion designers have been
promoting skinny clothing and brain washing too many Americans especially
women. Why not accept whatever size you are? Wear your clothes proudly instead
of feeling ashamed.
It’s about time
H&M dared to take a turn and did a huge favor for everyone. And I am hoping
other stores will do the same thing or even better. It’s about time to start
accepting normal looking women who happen to be normal average healthy looking
women or plus size. I am personally very happy and proud of H&M. Here is the article, http://shine.yahoo.com/healthy-living/h-m-uses-plus-size-model-to-showcase-swimwear-collection-and-the-skinny-girl-backlash-175911707.html.
In
March 2013 I read this article, http://shine.yahoo.com/healthy-living/swedish-mannequins-cause-a-controversy--192108535.html
from the article, “Dressed in skimpy
lingerie, the mannequins displayed softer stomachs, fuller thighs and generally
more realistic proportions than the traditional department store models. For
comparison, most mannequins in the U.S.
are between a svelte size 4 or 6—a departure from the average
American woman who is a size 14”. I was so glad to see normal size mannequins. But
it did make me think, if an average American woman size is 14 then why don’t
stores use size 14 mannequins.
The
only thing I can think of is since our society is so obsessed with skinny they
don’t want to show a real size, which is totally wrong. We women need to come
out of this unrealistic image and start accepting our sizes. We are beautiful
the way we are and if you aren’t happy or satisfied, then start changing from the
inside out and you will feel comfortable in your own skin and then it doesn’t
matter what size you are, and who says size 4 or 6 is better.
Every
year and recently I am noticing more we have more weight lose commercials,
workout places, dieting meals and every other woman I meet are all watching
their weight and sad to say not many of them are successful. Why? I think most
of them are looking for a magic pill rather than focusing on what they have
been eating. There is nothing wrong
with eating healthy and watching your weight as long as we don’t cross the line
and become obsessed with being skinny. I don’t believe there is anything wrong with
being skinny but if we believe skinny is better then yes, there is something
wrong and it’s a physiological problem. We women need to relax and start
accepting who we are as a whole and feel beautiful from the inside out.
We
have to be careful when we are talking about our weight or complaining about our
body with other women because we are raising daughters and they are learning
from us. We don’t need to pass this to the next generation. Every body is
different and that is a beautiful thing. I hope the skinny era has gone and now
the normal looking women size is in!
